Prepare early and your Christmas will be one to remember! It's the day before the big day! You're probably running around like a headless chicken making sure everything's ready, so we thought we'd help you out with a handy Christmas Eve checklist. Once you've got all this covered you're free to pour yourself a (large) brandy and relax... then pour yourself another one!
-Phone all guests to ensure you're aware of their arrival times
-Ensure your roasting tin is big enough to cover your turkey (if it's not, some of the bigger supermarkets will be open)
-Check how long your turkey needs cooking for and make a mental note to put it in at the right time
-Ensure you have sufficient sized dishes to hold all your vegetables and side dishes
-Make sure you've cleaned your crystal ware and have enough plates for every guest
-Collect your last minute food orders i.e. cheese and chocolates
-Make the brandy butter for your Christmas pudding
-Perform an ingredient inventory - do you have everything you need?
-Check you have enough alcohol and soft drinks for all guests
-Make an alternative to Christmas pudding - not everyone likes it
-Ensure the children are in bed early, that way you can put the presents under the tree in good time
-Put the white wine and bubbly into the fridge
-Take mince pies out of your freeze if you've left them in there
-Make sure you know which guests will be sleeping over, if any
-Prepare the guest bedroom
Best of luck with your preparation. Have a great Christmas!
