Victorian Costumes

The Victorian Era, which ran from to , and was defined by the reign of the great Queen Victoria, saw an unprecedented amount of social and enconomic change in the United Kingdom. It also witnessed the high point of the British Empire, with over a 5th of the world's population under British Rule. During this time we saw the industrial revolution, huge advances in medicine and technology, and the mass movement of the population away from their rural lives adnd towards the great conurbations of London, Manchester and Birmingham. The Victorian era helped form our modern society, and so it is only right that Primary schools encourage children to study this period, and attend victorian themed events whilst dressed in Victorian costumes.
