Host Your Own Book Day Tea Party!

Host Your Own Book Day Tea Party!

On the first Thursday of March each year children all over the world dress up as their favourite book characters to celebrate Book Day. The charity has now been encouraging and helping children realise their love of books and reading for 25 years and we think that deserves a proper celebration!

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a book day tea party! Hosting an event like this can really help to encourage your child and their friends to find fun in the world of books and the act of reading for pleasure – a habit that has been proven to have a huge impact on a child’s future success. Here are some ideas to save you some time …

Send out your invites

Book Day this year falls on Thursday 3rd March and we think that’s the best day to host your party! Children will already be in their fancy dress costumes and should have hopefully chosen their free book, after being provided with the £1 book token at school. These are provided by National Book Tokens and more information about them can be found here. The children now have chance to talk to each other about the books they chose!

Sort the Snacks

Next you’ll be needing lots of goodies to feed all those hungry minds! To keep things as simple as possible we suggest stealing your inspiration from a typical afternoon tea menu. You know the drill… for drinks stick to options like juice, tea, perhaps some fizzy pop? Then for food, go for a crowd pleasing selection of mini sandwiches and cakes. Lots of cakes! If you really want to create a memorable experience you could get creative and try baking some storybook-themed cakes and treats. This article produced by Asda has some ingenious ideas if you like a challenge!

Get Decorating

Now you just need to lay the table. By using one of our licenced Party Tableware ranges, you can select a fun collection of paper products to set a theme for your tea party. We all know children can be a little clumsy, especially when they’re having fun, so paper partyware will stop anything getting broken as well as making life a little easier by reducing washing up!
Listed below are some of our favourite picks for your tea party theme. These collections include all the tableware you could need from paper cups and plates to napkins and paper straws, as well as decorations like bunting and balloons!
