1970s Costmes For Couples

The 1970s were a decade of great music, film and wacky outfits. Rock music began to rise in popularity with bands such as Led Zeppelin and Kiss playing to huge crowds throughout the years. Another musical genre that rose during the 70s was disco, with groups like the Bee Gees and Abba filling dance floors around the world. This paved the way for some brilliant movies, who can forget John Travolta’s iconic disco moves in Saturday Night Fever. There were some films that terrified us during the 70’s including the demonic The Exorcist and of course Jaws which has made us scared of sharks ever since! We also saw the start of the Star Wars franchise whose characters are now household names. Fashion during this time followed on from the hippie movement and featured long flared trousers and colourful printed shirts with platform shoes for men. Women started wearing trousers more and more and jumpsuits were popular, again in colourful prints. Hairstyles included long straight Abba style with a fringe, or flicked out Farrah Fawcett styles for women, and men adopted longer styles with sideburns or afros.
