Here in the UK we have a huge variety of charity raising events, Children in Need is one of the biggest charity events raising hundreds of thousands of pounds per year to help young and disabled children here in the UK. The charity raises money by televising popular celebrities who want to help raise money for those who need it most. The telethon runs from 7:30pm to 2am but even before that tons of people do incredible things not only for their own benefit such as running a marathon or doing something they would never do before to raise money for this event.

Each year Children in Need chooses a certain theme that people would like to dress up as when doing their bit for charity. This years theme is Childhood heroes. This is a great theme as it allows people from all age groups to get involved whether young or old, everybody has had a hero in their lives whether fake or real. This gives everyone so much variety to choose from.

You can dress up as your favourite superhero or character from a story or video game like the super plumber Mario himself or go even more super with a Superman costume. Perhaps your heroes are more closer to heart, then the world war 2 soldier and general costumes are great costumes if you had a hero in the family!

There are so many people and characters in real life, Tv, film and so much more to choose from so think hard and carefully about who your childhood hero is and think about becoming them for the variety of charity events around your area from non-school uniform days to charity fund raising days where you can take part in a variety of activities.

So get in costume, get in character, become your childhood hero whether super or not, as long as they were a hero or heroine to you it will be perfect to raise money for those in need this year!
