There are tons of villains in the horror movie genre and each has their own unique style of, let’s say… dealing with the protagonists. Many use psychological horror while others go for straight out hack ‘n slash massacres. So let’s take a look at some of the most popular ones that you could imitate this Halloween because you do not want to mess with these ones.

Jason Voorhees:

You see somebody wearing a hockey mask in the streets around Halloween and he doesn’t play hockey. Just that alone will make people understand that they are dressing up as the brutal Jason Voorhees even if they haven’t seen the films and that is one incredible feat to pull off in terms of designing a character.

Jason wields a machete as his signature weapon which is believed to be the same machete used to kill his mother in the first film. Jason is undead giving him superhuman capabilities such as increased strength, resistance and even regenerative powers, he died at his summer camp as a child by drowning as no camp counsellors attempted to save him. Once his mother attempted to kill off any new camp counsellors as revenge she was defeated by one of the protagonists of the first film which sparked Jason’s burning hatred.

Believe it or not if you have never seen the movies, Jason actually didn’t receive his mask until the 3rd film after taking it from one of his victims as he lost his sack he used to cover his face in the previous film. Jason has become one of the most iconic horror movie villains of all time and has even fought against another classic villain…

Freddy Krueger:

Possibly one of the most terrifying horror movie villains of all time, Freddy Krueger in life was a mad child killer which caused the police to investigate his home and attempted to arrest him but escaped because the police illegally entered his home, later however he is killed by the parents of the children he had taken by burning him alive in his own boiler room where he took them.

After believing he was dead the parents continued their lives with their children but had no clue what horror they had released. Freddy was now a spirit as was able to enter the dreams of people (mostly children or teens) once inside he had incredible power and only grew in power the more scared the person dreaming became. Once he had “disposed” of his victim in the dream world they were also killed in the real one in a similar fashion.

His iconic bladed glove is more to induce fear into his victims rather than for combat, this glove he made while alive and presumably used against the children he took. He also uses it to cut himself open to reveal who he is in the dream world, once again to induce fear. Freddy does have one massive weakness however, If the person wakes up holding anything that belongs to Freddy such as clothes or even Freddy himself, he is dragged into the real world with none of his powers as seen in multiple films
and even when fighting against a nemesis of his, Jason Voorhees.

Leatherface:

We have seen machetes and we’ve seen gloves with metal blades for nails, both of which are of course scary weapons to be used against you, but what about a chainsaw! This is by far one of the most gruesome and disgusting villains on our list. Leatherface is one of the children of the Sawyer family and worked as a butcher and loves meat, like the rest of his family he cannot get enough meat and because of this the family are all cannibals and love using the remains of humans for furnishing their home.

Leatherface has been known as a big baby and is often scared of not only strangers but his family too. That is the reason given to why he does exactly what his family says because he is afraid of them and kills any intruders or strangers in self-defence.

His name comes from the fact he wears human skin as a mask (eww!) and his insane actions gave him a crazy nickname. He often runs in strange patterns and raises his chainsaw above his head with strange and almost psychedelic movements before chasing or disposing of his victims.
