Rugby Sevens is a form of Rugby Union however there are only seven players in each team rather than the usual fifteen. The matches are also shorter at only seven minutes for each half. The game is played around the world and is now an Olympic sport. The HSBC Sevens World Series consists of nine tournaments held in eight different countries. On the 16^th and 17^th of May 2015 the tournament comes to London’s Twickenham stadium. It marks the end of the season and the winners will be decided in the final on Sunday the 17^th of May. There is added excitement this year as the teams that finish in the top four will qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. This event has been growing in popularity each year with record numbers of fans coming through the turnstiles. The fans bring a carnival atmosphere that makes Rugby Sevens a great day out for the whole family. Last year’s fancy dress theme was Monsters and this year is a Galactic Space theme. Think Star Wars, Star Trek, aliens and astronauts. This year the majority of the crowd will be from a galaxy far, far away! You may even see the odd Buzz Lightyear or Power Ranger! There are prizes for the best costumes so make sure you stand out! We can’t wait to see Darth Vader followed by a procession of Stormtroopers making their way into the stadium!
